About the Competition
The Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition is one of the oldest and most respected mock trial competitions in the United States. It is sponsored by the Black Law Student Association (BLSA) and always held in conjunction with the BLSA regional and national convention. Every ABA-accredited law school in the country with a BLSA chapter is invited to compete in this annual competition. Each year, hundreds of competitors compete on the regional levels with the hopes of ultimately becoming one of the top 3 teams in the nation. The top 3 teams from each of the 7 regional tournaments advance to the championship round. UW is part of the Western Region, which includes 35 law schools. The UW-Thurgood Marshall team were 3x Regional Champions (2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15).
The Thurgood Marshall Competition is now a Moot Court Competition and Constance Baker Motely is the BLSA Mock Trial Competitions.
For more information on the BLSA teams, see the competition website.
